The Toucan is a complete COM Express computing kernel for your application specific embedded computer system. It features an Core Duo processor together with the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset. This highly optimized combination gives the application 4 fast PCIexpress x1 lanes and an excellent graphics controller. An external graphics controller can also be used; it is connected using a PCIe x16 lane, resulting in outstanding performance for industrial embedded computer systems.
The board is available for operation in the standard environmental temperature range of -40°C…+85°C. Optionally, model for the extended range of -20°C…60°C can be ordered, making the Toucan a very well usable for industrial computer systems. Check the application note for appropriate cooling solutions.
The Toucan is prepared for remote maintainance using Intel's Active Management Technology (AMT). It allows remote operation of the computer(s) as long as there is a working network cable and power supply. This advanced embedded computer technology enables remote supervision and control, thus minimizing maintenance cost for the embedded computer.
The Toucan conforms to the COM Express specification and the RoHS directive of the European Commision.
Mini-ITX Carrier Board for COM Express Modules
 The Mini-ITX carrier board for COM Express modules provides an easy and inexpensive way to use COM Express modules like LiPPERT's Toucan. The carrier board brings the Toucan's interface out on standard connectors, making the Toucan readily usable for computing. As an additional bonus, a second Gigabit Ethernet port is integrated on the carrier board.
