CoreExpress®-ECO Advanced Computer on Module supports the QNX real time operating system
LiPPERT's Intel Atom-based advanced COM module CoreExpress-ECO now also offers support for the real time operating system QNX and open up new possibilities for embedded PC applications.
The CoreExpress-ECO is the smallest advanced computers on module (Advanced COM) available on the market. With a weight of just about 28 grams, it only measures 58 mm x 65 mm.
From now on, this tiny module supports the real time operating system QNX, which is very popular in automotive applications. Its micro kernel architecture ensures continuous operation over long time frames, even in distributed systems.

QNX has a unique feature to offer: using Fastboot IPL, a computer can start into a graphical application program in less than 5 seconds. Many application areas that use embedded PC's, can profit from this.
The CoreExpress-ECO features LiPPERT Enhanced Management Technlogy (LEMT). Its functions are implemented using an integrated micro controller. Among them is housekeeping work like power sequencing, as well as utility functions for the application software, for instance write/delete protected flash memory and various state counters, usable for condition monitoring.
Aside from QNX, the CoreExpress-ECO runs operating systems like Windows XP, XP Embedded, Windows CE und Linux.
There is a starter kit available for the system integrator. A sturdy carrying case contains everything needed to rapidly bring up a prototype. It contains a CoreExpress-ECO module, mounted on a carrier board, a LCD panel, the power supply and a full set of documentation. Three hours of free technical support come with the package. LiPPERT also offers its services to develop application specific carrier boards.
With a 1.6 GHz processor and 2 GB of memory, the CoreExpress-ECO's power consumption is a mere 5 watts. Optionally, a model qualified for the extended temperature range of -40°…+85° C is available.
