Remote Condition Monitoring Through LEMT Web
LEMT Web allows to remotely access most of LEMT's functions via any browser. A CGI program binds the LEMT command line tool to a web server, thus making its functions accessible from other computers.
In order to use LEMT Web, a HTTP server such as Microsoft's Internet Information Server for Windows or "thttpd" for Linux is required on the embedded PC. For Windows XP and Windows 7, LiPPERT provides a setup program. The Technical Manual describes the installatoin procedure for thttpd in detail. Of course, other HTTP servers can be utilized, too.
LEMT (short for LiPPERT Enhanced Management Technology) is LiPPERT Embedded Computer's approach to condition management. It allows to monitor the state of an embedded PC without the need for complex measurement. For instance, the board's temperature is recorded and can be viewed using the provided command line tool. Other data, such as the board's total operating time and supply current are measured and recorded too. These values give a good indication of the board's health. Other LEMT functions handle information about the board. Examples are serial number and BIOS revision, defined by LiPPERT. It is also possible to store custom information in a special Flash area, enabling easy inventory in existing installations. A secure, one-time programmable Flash area holds sensitive information like encryption key codes.
In short, LEMT helps the system integrator to develop stable, well controlled, and manageable intelligent devices. It is integrated in all current products from LiPPERT Embedded Computers. The software and accompanying documentation, as well as further information is available at www.lippertembedded.com/lemt.
