Rugged PC/104-Plus Module features LX800 Processor, Solid State Disk
With a powerful yet efficient processor, soldered RAM and 2 GB Solid State Disk, the Cool SpaceRunner-LX800 board is especially well equipped for rough environments. Consuming only a mere five watts, the module does not even need active cooling.
The Cool SpaceRunner-LX800 is designed for applications running in adverse environmental conditions. The PC/104-Plus processor module is qualified for ambient temperatures from -40 °C…+85 °C without requiring active cooling. With the integrated Solid State Disk (SSD), systems without any moving and wearing parts can be built.

processor and the CS5536 IO companion. Due to this processor's efficient architecture, it consumes only very little power to operate at clock 500 MHz clock rates. In fact, the whole module uses less than 5 watts when running under full load. The Cool SpaceRunner-LX800 comprises all peripherals required for stand-alone operation. There are 256 MB of soldered DDR-RAM, an integrated graphics controller handling up to 1920x1440 pixels, and CRT and LVDS interfaces for flat panel LCD screens. Communication interfaces include a 100 Mbit LAN port, four USB 2.0 host ports, and two flexible serial ports, selectable for RS232, RS422, or RS485 levels. Apart from the Solid State Disk holding two Gigabytes of data, an IDE port is provided, too. The module is plug-compatible with its predecessor, the Cool SpaceRunner-II and can be plugged into carrier boards originally designed for this older board. Thus, proven application specific hardware can simply be re-used without any modification. The Cool SpaceRunner-LX800 uses the LiPPERT Enhanced Management Technology (LEMT). It handles the boards housekeeping tasks like power sequencing and watchdog, and provides useful utility functions for the application. Among them is a secure, write and clear protected Flash area that can be used for security keys. LEMT also enables remote condition monitoring. Supported operating systems include Windows XP, XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, and VxWorks. Hardware drivers for these are readily available. Project pricing is available on request.
