Mini ITX - Intel® Core™ Duo Processor
-
Adaptive -IO™ Connector

The Thunderbird-GM45 "Next Generation" is built around the next generation Intel CPU's and chipsets, the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo. This Mini-ITX board is equipped with the familiar standard interfaces.
Additionally, it provides an Adaptive-IO™ connector. There are already two examples Adaptive-IO™ cards available, showing the advantages of the concept. One comes with serial and parallel interfaces, PS2 and floppy disk. The other one provides SDVI-D, HD-Audio, and TV-Out, making the combination useful for multi-media applications.

When using Mini-ITX boards in embedded solutions, there is often a need for customized I/O interfaces in addition to the standard PC interfaces defined by the standard. This need usually is difficult to fulfill; there are no standard methods for custom I/O except for using a PCI plug-in board. However, these boards are mechanically instable and due to their rather large size do not allow for small boxes; they are either too high or need a raiser card to be mounted horizontally above the Mini-ITX board, which doesn't help stability, either.
LiPPERT addresses this issue with Adaptive-IO™, a daughter-board concept based on digital interfaces like PCI Express, USB, and SDVO. It defines a board format and a suitable sturdy connector. Adaptive-IO™ is especially well suited for applications requiring multiple channel communications. Thanks to the PCI Express lanes, it allows the simple design of specialized cards handling, for instance, several serial and/or Ethernet ports. It also opens the possibility to implement PCI Express over cable, which can be utilized to construct highly modular PC systems.

Thunderbird GM45: Downloads
We support our customers with BIOS binaries and all kinds of drivers for our embedded X86 boards. Usually, there's at least support for Windows and Linux. Some selected boards are also supported with drivers for real time operating systems.Check the table state below for the list of drivers and the current BIOS version. Please contact our support if the required driver is not listed on this web site.
BIOS loader To burn the BIOS binary into your module's Flash PROM, there is a universal loader program available that works with most of our single bard computers. This tool requires DOS to run.
BIOS Modifications You need a special function integrated in your embedded PC's BIOS? We can customize the standard BIOS to match exactly your requirements! Please check with us about the possibilities and a quote.
